Popcorncert
Sound plays a very important role in the development of food products. In fact, we sense this only subconciously. In the food industry, however, sound is used as a tool to enhance particular feelings and, consequentely influence the taste of a food product. Popcorncert visualizes the sound of food, turns it into a concert and an edible performance.
A cooking pot with oil and corn is placed on an electric stove. Instead of a lid a drummer‘s cymbal is placed above the pot. A microphone is installed on top to intensify the sound. Around the pan, white paperbags form a circle to catch the jumping popcorn.
This project was part of a research study programme on sound design at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam.
